•IfthepowertoyourserverisinterruptedwhilethePOSTandBIOSarebeingupdated,yourservermight
notrestartcorrectly.EnsurethatyouperformtheBIOSupdateprocedureinanenvironmentwitha
steadypowersupply.Besides,ensurethatyourservercanrestartsuccessfullywithoutencountering
hardwareproblems.
•IfyouhaveupdatedtheBIOSfirmware,alltheBIOSsettingsbecomethedefaultsettingsoftheupdated
BIOSversion.YouneedtocheckandreconfiguretheBIOSsettingsforyourspecificneeds.
Toupdate(flash)theBIOS,dothefollowing:
1.Gotohttp://www.lenovo.com/driversandfollowtheinstructionsontheWebpagetolocatetheBIOS
updatepackage.
2.DownloadtheBIOSupdatepackageandtheTXTfilethatcontainsinstallationinstructions.
3.PrinttheTXTfileandfollowtheinstructionstoupdate(flash)theBIOS.
4.CheckandreconfiguretheBIOSsettingsforyourspecificneedsbasedonyournoteorreferto“Using

TheThinkServerEasyStartupprogramsimplifiestheprocessofconfiguringRAIDandinstallingsupported
WindowsandLinuxoperatingsystems,VMwarehypervisors,anddevicedriversonyourserver.Theprogram
workswithyouroperatingsysteminstallationdisctoautomatetheprocessofinstallingtheoperatingsystem
andassociateddevicedrivers.Thisprogramisprovidedwithyourserveronaself-starting(bootable)
ThinkServerEasyStartupDVD.TheuserguidefortheprogramisalsoontheDVDandcanbeaccessed
directlyfromtheprograminterface.
IfyoudonothaveaThinkServerEasyStartupDVD,youalsocandownloadanISOimagefromtheLenovo
SupportWebsiteandmakeadiscbyyourself.
TodownloadtheThinkServerEasyStartupprogramimageandburnitintoadisc,dothefollowing:
