Replacingtheheatsinkandfanassembly
Attention:Donotopenyourserverorattemptanyrepairbeforereadingandunderstanding“Safetyinformation”

Thissectionprovidesinstructionsonhowtoreplacetheheatsinkandfanassembly.
CAUTION:
Turnofftheserverandwaitthreetofiveminutestolettheservercoolbeforeremovingtheserver
cover.
Toreplacetheheatsinkandfanassembly,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage39.
3.Laytheserveronitssideforeasieraccesstothesystemboard.
4.Locatetheheatsinkandfanassembly.See“Locatingpartsonthesystemboard”onpage16.
5.Disconnecttheheatsinkandfanassemblycablefromthemicroprocessorfanconnectoronthesystem
board.See“Locatingpartsonthesystemboard”onpage16.
