Thissectionprovidesinstructionsonhowtoreplacetheharddiskdrive.
Important
Whenyoureceiveanewharddiskdrive,youalsoreceiveasetofProductRecoverydiscs.Thesetof
ProductRecoverydiscswillenableyoutorestorethecontentsoftheharddiskdrivetothefactory-installed
state.Formoreinformationonrecoveringfactory-installedsoftware,referto“Recoveringsoftware”in
yourThinkStationUserGuide.
Attention:YourcomputersupportsbothSASharddiskdrivesandSATAharddiskdrives.However,besure
thatyoudonotinstallboththeSASandSATAharddiskdrivesintothesamecomputer.
Toreplaceaharddiskdrive:
1.Removethecomputercover.See“Removingthecover”onpage78.
2.Locatetheharddiskdrive.See“Locations”onpage79.
3.Disconnectthesignalandpowercablesfromtheharddiskdrive.
4.Pullthehandletoremovetheharddiskdrive.
5.Removethefailingharddiskdrivefromthebracketbyexingthebracket.
