backupandnotatthetimeoftherejuvenationprocess,itwillbesharedagainaftercompletingarejuvenation
fromthatbackup.Also,ifyouhaveasharedfolderatthetimeoftherejuvenationprocessbutitwasnotin
thebackup,thefolderwillstillbesharedaftertherejuvenationnishes.
Fullrestore
Fullrestoredeletesalllesonthelocaldrive,andthenrestoresthelesfromtheselectedbackup.If
passwordpersistenceisselected,themostrecentpasswordavailablewillberestored.
Customrecovery
AsanextensionoftheRescueandRecoveryprogram,customrecoverytechnologyhasbeenaddedtothe
recoveryprocess.UserswillinteractwiththiscustomrecoverymethodthroughtheRescueandRecovery
programandtheLenovoBaseSoftwareSelectorprograms.Byperformingacustomrecovery,usershave
theoptionofincludingandexcludingindividualcomponentssuchasapplications,devicedriversor
operatingsystemsaspartoftherecoveryprocess.Administratorswilldenewhatoptionsauserwillhave
duringacustomrecoveryprocesswiththeThinkVantageBaseSoftwareAdministratorprogram.
TheBaseSoftwareAdministratorprogramisaversatilesoftwareutilitythatyoucanusetoaccomplish
customrecoveryandpreinstallationrelatedtasks.WiththeBaseSoftwareAdministratorprogram,you
cancustomizetherecoveryprocessforusersandyoucancreatepersonalizationlesusedtoautomate
thepreinstallationsetupforWindows.
Customizingtherecoveryprocess
Intoday’selectronicenvironment,computersystemsarethreatenedbymaliciousactivitywiththedistribution
ofviruses,worms,andTrojanhorses.Technologyandanti-virussoftwarehasimprovedintheghtagainst
maliciousactivity;however,therearetimeswhenthesoftwareonacomputerwillneedtoberenewedby
removingmaliciouslesandstartingover.TheRescueandRecoveryprogramisavaluabletoolintherenewal
processbyprovidingmethodstorestoreacomputerintheeventthecomputerissold,recycled,transferred
toanotherareaorneedstobeputinanoperationalstateafterallothermethodsofrecoveryhasfailed.
Varioustypesofrecoverymethodscanbeusedtorenewcomputersystems.TheBaseSoftware
Administratorprogramutilizesthefullfactoryrecoverymethodandthecustomfactoryrecoverymethod.The
fullfactoryrecoverymethodrestoresthefactorycontentsoftheharddrivethatconsistsofcomponentssuch
asapplications,devicedrivers,andtheoperatingsystem.Factorycomponentsareinstalledatthefactory
priortothepurchaseofacomputer.UsingtheBaseSoftwareAdministratorprogram,youcancontrolthe
recoveryoptionsthatareavailabletotheuserduringtherecoveryprocess.Thefollowinglistprovidesthe

•Eitherafullfactoryrecoveryoracustomfactoryrecovery
