Operatingthestoragearraywithouttheairductsorairbafflesmightcauseoverheatingproblems.
Workingwiththestoragearraywiththepoweron
Attention:Staticelectricitythatisreleasedtointernalstoragearraycomponentswhenthestoragearrayisturnedon
mightcausethestoragearraytohalt,whichmightresultinthelossofdata.Toavoidthispotentialproblem,always
useanESDwriststraporothergroundingsystemwhenyouworkinsidethestoragearraywiththepoweron.
Followtheseguidelineswhenyouworkwiththestoragearraywiththepoweron:
•Avoidwearingloose-fittingclothingonyourforearms.Buttonlong-sleevedshirts;donotwearcufflinks.
•Donotallowyournecktieorscarftohanginsidethestoragearray.
•Removejewelry,suchasbracelets,necklaces,rings,andloose-fittingwristwatches.
•Removeitemsfromyourshirtpocket,suchaspensandpencils.Theseitemsmightfallintothestorage
arrayasyouleanoverit.
•Avoiddroppinganymetallicobjectsintothestoragearray,suchaspaperclips,hairpins,andscrews.
Installing,removing,orreplacinghardware
Thistopicprovidesinstructionsonhowtoinstall,remove,orreplacehardwareforyourstoragearray.You
canexpandthecapabilitiesofyourstoragearraybyaddingnewhardwaredevices,suchasmemorymodules
orotherstoragearrayoptions,andmaintainyourstoragearraybyreplacingthefailinghardwaredevices.
Ifyouarehandlingastoragearrayoption,refertotheappropriateinstallationandorremovalinstructionsin
thistopicalongwiththeinstructionsthatcomewiththeoption.

Whenyouinstallaninternaldriveorapowersupply,savetheEMIshieldordummydrivetrayfromthedrive
bayintheeventthatyoulaterremovethedevice.
Attention:Anunoccupieddrivebaywithoutacover,shield,dummydrivetray,filler,oranyotherprotection
mightimpacttheEMIintegrityandcoolingofthestoragearray,whichmightresultinoverheatingor
componentdamage.
