Toupdate(flash)theBIOSfromyouroperatingsystem,dothefollowing:
1.Gotohttp://www.lenovo.com/support.
2.Dothefollowingtolocatethedownloadablefilesforyourmachinetype:
a.IntheEnteraproductnumberfield,typeyourmachinetypeandclickGo.
b.ClickDownloadsanddrivers.
c.SelectBIOSfromtheRefineresultsdrop-downlistboxtoeasilylocatealltheBIOSrelatedlinks.
d.ClicktheBIOSupdatelink.
3.ClicktheTXTfilethatcontainstheinstructionsforupdating(flashing)theBIOSfromyouroperating
system.
4.Printtheseinstructions.Thisisveryimportantbecausetheseinstructionswillnotbedisplayedon
thescreenafterthedownloadbegins.
5.Followtheprintedinstructionstodownload,extract,andinstalltheupdate.
RecoveringfromaBIOSupdatefailure
IfthepowertoyourserverisinterruptedwhiletheBIOSisbeingupdated,yourservermightnotrestart
correctly.Ifthishappens,performthefollowingproceduretorecoverfromtheBIOSupdatefailure.This
procedureiscommonlycalledboot-blockrecovery.
1.Gotohttp://www.lenovo.com/driversandfollowtheinstructionsontheWebpagetodownloada
BIOSupdatepackage.
2.PrepareaUSBkeyandformattheUSBkeywiththeFATorFAT32filesystem.Then,putthe
IMAGEFA.capandIMAGE9H.ROMfilescontainedintheBIOSupdatepackageintotherootdirectoryof
aUSBkey.
3.ConnecttheUSBkeytoyourserver.
4.Turnonyourserver.Therecoveryprocessstarts.Aftertherecoveryprocesscompletes,yourserverwill
turnoffautomatically.
5.Turnonyourserver.TheBIOSsettingsrecovertothefactorydefaultsettings.Checkandconfigurethe
BIOSsettingsforyourspecificneeds.
