Solution:OnthestartupmenuofThinkPadSetup,makesurethattheharddiskdriveisonthe“Bootpriority
order”list.Ifitisonthe“Excludedfrombootorder”list,itisdisabled.Selecttheentryforitonthelistand
presstheShift+1key.Thismovestheentrytothe“Bootpriorityorder”list.
Problem:Aftersettingaharddiskpasswordontheharddiskdriveofthecomputer,youmovedthe
drivetoanothercomputer.Nowyoucannotunlocktheharddiskpassword.
Solution:Yourcomputersupportsanenhancedpasswordalgorithm.Computersolderthanyoursmay
notsupportsuchasecurityfunction.
Opticaldriveproblems
•Problem:Theopticaldrive,suchasaCD,DVD,orCD-RWdrive,doesnotwork.
Solution:MakesurethatthecomputeristurnedonandaCD,DVD,orCD-RWisproperlyloadedonthe
centerpivotofthedrive.(Youshouldhearaclick.)
Makesurethatthedriveconnectorisrmlyconnectedtothecomputer.Ifyouuseanoptionthathasabay
forinstallingthedrive,makesurethattheoptionisrmlyconnectedtothecomputerandworksproperly.
Makesurethatthedrivetrayisrmlyclosed.
Makesurethatthedevicedriversarecorrectlyinstalled.
•Problem:YouhearanoisefromthedrivewhentheCD,DVD,orCD-RWisspinning.
Solution:Ifthediscisnotproperlyloadedonthecenterpivotofthedrive,itmightrubagainstthedrive
coverandmakeanoise.Makesurethatthediscisloadedproperlyinthedrive.
•Problem:Thetraydoesnotopenevenifyoupresstheejectbutton.
Solution:Whenyourcomputerisnotturnedon,pressingtheejectbuttondoesnotcausethedrivetray
toopen.Makesurethatthecomputeristurnedonandthatthedriveconnectorisrmlyconnected
tothecomputer.
Ifthetraystilldoesnotopen,makesurethatthecomputerisrunning,andinserttheendofastraightened
paperclipintotheemergencyejecthole.Thetraywillopen.

Solution:MakesurethattheCD,DVD,orCD-RWisnotdirty.Ifitis,cleanitwithacleanerkit.
