Beforeyoubegin,reviewthefollowingharddiskdriveinstallationrules:
•Followtheorderoftheharddiskdrivebayswheninstallingaharddiskdrive.See“Servercomponents”
onpage24tolocatetheharddiskdrivebaysinyourserver.
•ForRAIDconguration,theharddiskdrivesmustbethesametypewiththesamecapacityiftheyare
withinasingleRAIDarray.Formoreinformation,see“ConguringRAID”onpage58
.
•Forharddiskdriveswithdifferentcapacities,installtheharddiskdrivebyfollowingtheorderofthehard
diskdrivebaysaswellastheorderfromthelowestcapacitytothehighestcapacity.
Beforeyoubegin,printalltherelatedinstructionsorensurethatyoucanviewthePDFversiononanother
computerforreference.
Notes:
•Dependingonthemodel,yourservermightcomewith3.5-inchhot-swapharddiskdrivesor2.5-inch
hot-swapharddiskdrives.Theillustrationsinthistopicarebasedonservermodelswith3.5-inch
hot-swapharddiskdrives.Forothermodels,thereplacementprocedureissimilar.
•Dependingonthemodel,yourservermightlookslightlydifferentfromtheillustrationsinthistopic.
•Useanydocumentationthatcomeswiththehot-swapharddiskdriveandfollowthoseinstructionsin

Toinstallorreplaceahot-swapharddiskdrive,dothefollowing:

2.Pressthereleasebutton1toopenthehandleofthehot-swapharddiskdriveorthedummytray.
