RemovingtheTPM

ThistopicprovidesinstructionsonhowtoremovetheTPMiftheserverhasoneinstalled.
Beforeyoubegin,printalltherelatedinstructionsorensurethatyoucanviewthePDFversiononanother
computerforreference.
Notes:
•IfyouremovetheTPM,theTPMfunctionwillbeunavailable.
•UseanydocumentationthatcomeswiththeTPMandfollowthoseinstructionsinadditiontothe
instructionsinthistopic.
•Dependingonthemodel,yourservermightlookslightlydifferentfromtheillustrationinthistopic.
ToremovetheTPM,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Prepareyourserver.See“Removingorextendingtheserverfromtherackcabinet”onpage63.
3.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage63.
4.LocatetheTPMonthesystemboardandthenremovetheTPMfromtheTPMconnectorbyliftingit
straightup.
