CAUTION:
Theheatsinkandfanassemblyandthemicroprocessormightbeveryhot.Turnofftheserverand
waitthreetofiveminutestolettheservercoolbeforeremovingtheservercover.
Beforeyoubegin,printalltherelatedinstructionsorensurethatyoucanviewthePDFversiononanother
computerforreference.
Toreplacethemicroprocessor,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage87.
3.Laytheserveronitssideforeasieroperation.
4.Removetheheatsinkandfanassembly.See“Replacingtheheatsinkandfanassembly”onpage162.
5.Gentlypressdownthesmallhandleonthemicroprocessorsocketandthenpullthehandlealittlebit
outwardtoreleaseitfromthesecuredposition.Then,pivotthehandleupwarduntilthehandleandthe
microprocessorretainerareinthefullyopenposition.
Note:Yourmicroprocessorandsocketmightlookdifferentfromtheoneillustrated.
