
4. If replacing the hard disk drive, see “Installing a hard disk drive into a drive
carrier” for instructions on installing a hard disk drive into a drive carrier. If
not replacing the hard disk drive, ensure that a blank drive carrier is installed
in the drive bay.
5. For instructions on re-installing the drive carrier into the drive bay, see
“Installing a drive carrier module” on page 19.
Installing a hard disk drive into a drive carrier
To install a hard disk drive into a drive carrier, do the following:
1. Observe all safety and ESD precautions in the Safety and Warranty Guide.
2. See “Removing a drive carrier module” on page 17 for instructions on
removing a drive carrier from a drive bay.
3. If replacing a hard disk drive, see “Removing a hard disk drive from a drive
carrier” on page 21 for instructions on removing a hard disk drive from a drive
carrier.
4. If not previously removed, remove the label from the inside of the drive carrier
by pulling up on the blue tab (see 1 in the following figure). Insert the hard
disk drive into the drive carrier, ensuring that the top of the hard disk drive
faces up and the connector end of the hard disk drive faces the rear of the
drive carrier. Secure the hard disk drive to the drive carrier with four screws
(see 2). Set any jumpers for the hard disk drive.
