2.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall

clean,andstatic-protectivesurface.SeetheRackInstallationInstructionsthatcomeswiththeserver.

5.LocatetheBIOSrecoveryswitchonthesystemboard.See“Systemboardjumpersandswitches”on
page36.Then,removeanypartsanddisconnectanycablesthatmightimpedeyouraccesstothe
switch.
6.MovetheBIOSrecoveryswitchfromthedefaultoffpositiontotheonposition.
7.Reinstallanypartsandreconnectanycables.Then,reinstalltheservercover.See“Completingthe
partsreplacement”onpage149.
8.ConnecttheservertoanacpowersourceandthenstarttheserverfromthebootableUSBkeythat
containstheamiboot.romle.Therecoveryprocessstarts.Aftertherecoveryprocessiscompleted,
yourserverwillautomaticallyturnoff.
9.Repeatstep2throughstep5.
10.MovetheBIOSrecoveryswitchbacktotheoffposition.

WindowsandLinuxoperatingsystemsanddevicedriversonyourserver.Theprogramworksinconjunction
withyourWindowsorLinuxoperatingsysteminstallationdisctoautomatetheprocessofinstallingthe
operatingsystemandassociateddevicedrivers.Thisprogramisprovidedwithyourserveronaself-starting
(bootable)ThinkServerEasyStartupDVD.TheuserguidefortheprogramalsoisontheDVDandcanbe
accesseddirectlyfromtheprograminterface.
IfyoudonothaveaThinkServerEasyStartupDVD,youalsocandownloadanISOimagefromtheLenovo
SupportWebsiteandmakeadiscbyyourself.
