ThistopicprovidesinstructionsonhowtoremovetheTR500KeyifyourserverhasaThinkServerRAID
500AdapterwithaTR500Keyoptioninstalled.
Attention:BackupyourdatabeforeyoubeginifyouneedtoreconfigureRAIDandreinstalltheoperating
systemafterremovingtheTR500Key.
Beforeyoubegin,printalltherelatedinstructionsorensurethatyoucanviewthePDFversiononanother
computerforreference.
Notes:
•IfyouremovetheTR500KeyfromtheThinkServerRAID500Adapter,thehardwareRAID5andRAID50
levelswillbedisabled.
•UseanydocumentationthatcomeswiththeTR500Keyandfollowthoseinstructionsinadditionto
theinstructionsinthistopic.
ToremovetheTR500KeyfromtheRAIDcard,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage85.
3.Laytheserveronitssideforeasieroperation.
4.LocatetheThinkServerRAID500Adapterandremoveanypartsordisconnectanycablesthatmight
impedeyouroperation.
5.RemovetheTR500KeyfromtheThinkServerRAID500Adapter.Ifnecessary,youcanremovethe
ThinkServerRAID500Adapterfirst,removetheTR500Keyfromit,andthenreinstalltheThinkServer
