1.Turnonorrestartyourserver.
2.Whenyouseethelogoscreen,pressF12todisplaythebootmenu.Thebootdeviceselection
windowopens.
3.Inthebootdeviceselectionwindow,usetheupanddownarrowkeysonthekeyboardtoswitch
betweentheselections.PressEntertoselectthedeviceofyourchoice.Then,theserverwillstart
upfromtheselecteddevice.
•Tovieworpermanentlychangetheconfiguredstartupdevicesequence,dothefollowing:
1.StarttheSetupUtilityprogram.See“StartingtheSetupUtilityprogram”onpage47.
2.OntheStartupmenu,followtheinstructionsonthescreentosetthestartupdevicedependingon
yourneeds.Youalsocansetthebootpriorityforvariousdevices.See“Startupmenu”onpage50
.
3.PressF10tosavesettingsandexittheSetupUtilityprogram.Theserverwillfollowthestartupdevice
sequenceyouhaveseteachtimeyouturnontheserver.
ExitingtheSetupUtilityprogram
Afteryoufinishviewingorchangingsettings,pressEsctoreturntotheSetupUtilityprogrammaininterface.
Ifyouareonanestedsubmenu,pressEscrepeatedlyuntilyoureachthemaininterface.Then,youcan
dooneofthefollowing:
•IfyouwanttosavethenewsettingsandexittheSetupUtilityprogram,pressF10orselectExit➙Save
ChangesandExit.Otherwise,yourchangeswillnotbesaved.
•Ifyoudonotwanttosavethenewsettings,selectExit➙DiscardChangesandExit.
•Ifyouwanttoreturntothedefaultsettings,pressF9orselectExit➙LoadOptimalDefaults.

UpdatingorrecoveringtheBIOS
ThistopicprovidesinstructionsonhowtoupdatetheBIOSandhowtorecoverfromaPOSTandBIOS
updatefailure.
Systemprogramsarethebasiclayerofsoftwarebuiltintoyourserver.SystemprogramsincludethePOST,
theUEFIBIOS,andtheSetupUtilityprogram.ThePOSTisasetoftestsandproceduresthatareperformed
eachtimeyouturnonyourserver.TheUEFIBIOSisalayerofsoftwarethattranslatesinstructionsfrom
otherlayersofsoftwareintoelectricalsignalsthattheserverhardwarecanexecute.Youcanusethe
SetupUtilityprogramtovieworchangetheconfigurationsettingsofyourserver.See“UsingtheSetup
Utilityprogram”onpage47
.

fordownloadontheLenovoWebsiteathttp://www.lenovo.com/drivers.Youcanupdatetheserverfirmware
bydownloadinganupdatepackageandfollowingtheinstructionsontheWebpage.
