ThistopicprovidesinstructionsonhowtoinstalltheTR500keyonaThinkServerRAID500Adapterif
yourserverhasoneinstalled.
Attention:BackupyourdatabeforeyoubeginifyouwanttoreconfigureRAIDandreinstalltheoperating
systemafterinstallingtheTR500Key.
Beforeyoubegin,printalltherelatedinstructionsorensurethatyoucanviewthePDFversiononanother
computerforreference.
Note:UseanydocumentationthatcomeswiththeTR500keyandfollowthoseinstructionsinadditionto
theinstructionsinthistopic.
ToinstalltheTR500key,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage67.
3.Laytheserveronitssideforeasieroperation.
4.RemovethePCIcardbracketassembly.See“RemovingandreinstallingthePCIcardbracket
assembly”onpage71

5.LocatetheThinkServerRAID500Adapter,whichisinstalledinthePCI-Eslot1onthesystemboard.

6.Removeanypartsordisconnectanycablesthatmightimpedeyouroperation.
7.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainstheTR500keytoanyunpaintedsurfaceonthe
outsideoftheserver.Then,taketheTR500keyoutofthepackage.
