YourserversupportsthefollowingtwotypesofRAIDconfigurations:
•OnboardSATAsoftwareRAIDconfigurationusingtheIntelRapidStorageTechnologyenterprise
program
TheonboardSATAsoftwareRAIDcontrollerisintegratedontheIntelC220chiponthesystemboard.
IfyourserverhasSATAharddiskdrivesthatareconnectedtothesystemboard,youcanusetheIntel
RapidStorageTechnologyenterpriseprogramtoconfigureRAID.Bydefault,yourserversupports
onboardSATAsoftwareRAIDlevels0,1,5,and10.

Note:ForservermodelswithmorethanfourharddiskdrivesormodelsthatuseSASharddiskdrives,a
RAIDcardmustbeinstalled.
TheRAIDcardprovidestheWebBIOSConfigurationUtilityprogramtohelpyouconfigureRAID
independentlyoftheoperatingsystem.YoualsocaninstalltheMegaRAIDStorageManagerprogram
andtheMegaCLIConfigurationUtilityprogramtohelpyoumanagetheRAIDarrayandRAIDcontroller
inanoperatingsystemenvironment.ThesupportedRAIDlevelsareRAID0,1,and10bydefault.For
theThinkServerRAID500Adapter,toactivateRAID5andRAID50levels,youneedtoinstallaRAID5

BeforeconfiguringRAIDforyourserver,observethefollowingprecautions:
1.UseharddiskdrivesthathavethesamecapacitywithinasingleRAIDarray.
2.Useharddiskdrivesthatareofthesametype(SATAorSAS)withinasingleRAIDarray.
3.Dependingontheoperatingsystem,theprimaryRAIDmightbelimitedto2TBtotaldrivecapacity.
