7.Followtheinstructionsonthescreentocompletetheupdate.Aftertheupdateiscompleted,removethe
discfromtheopticaldrive.

Toupdate(ash)theUEFIfromyouroperatingsystem,dothefollowing:
1.Gotohttp://www.lenovo.com/support.
2.Dothefollowingtolocatethedownloadablelesforyourmachinetype:
a.IntheEnteraproductnumbereld,typeyourmachinetypeandclickGo.
b.ClickDownloadsanddrivers.
c.SelecttheappropriateUEFIleforyourserver.
d.ClicktheTXTlethatcontainstheinstructionsforupdating(ashing)theUEFIfromyouroperating
system.
3.Printtheseinstructions.Thisisveryimportantbecausetheyarenotonthescreenafterthedownload
begins.
4.Followtheprintedinstructionstodownload,extract,andinstalltheupdate.
RecoveringfromaPOST/UEFIupdatefailure
IfpowertoyourserverisinterruptedwhilethePOST/UEFIisbeingupdated(ashupdate),yourserver
mightnotrestartcorrectly.Ifthishappens,performthefollowingprocedure,whichiscommonlycalled
Boot-blockRecovery.
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage30.
3.LocatetheClearCMOS/Recoveryjumperonthesystemboard.Referto“System-boardinternal
connectors”onpage25
.
4.RemoveallpartsanddisconnectallcablesthatmightpreventyouraccesstotheClearCMOS
/Recoveryjumper.
Note:YoumightneedtoremovethesecondaryharddiskdrivetoaccesstheClearCMOS/Recovery
jumper.See“Installingasecondaryharddiskdrive”onpage40.
5.Movethejumperfromthestandardposition(pin1andpin2)tothemaintenanceposition(pin2and
pin3).
6.Reinstallallpartsandreconnectallcablesthathavebeenremoved.
