11.Aftertherecoverysessioniscompleted,theseriesofbeepswillend,andthesystemwillautomatically
turnoff.
12.Repeatstep1throughstep4.
13.MovetheClearCMOS/Recoveryjumperbacktothestandardposition(pin1andpin2).
14.Reinstallallpartsandreconnectallcablesthathavebeenremoved.
15.Reinstalltheservercoverandreconnectallthepowercordsandothercables.See“Completingthe
partsreplacement”onpage57.
16.Turnontheserverandremovethediscfromtheopticaldrive.

TheThinkServerEasyStartupprogramsimpliestheprocessofinstallingtheoperatingsystemanddevice
driversbyperformingthefollowingtasks:
•Detectsinstalledhardwaredevices
•Guidesyouthroughtheprocessofcreatingaresponsele
•Preparestheharddiskdriveforinstallation
•Promptsyoutoinserttheoperating-systeminstallationdisc
•Initiatesanunattendedinstallationoftheoperatingsystemanddevicedriversformostadaptersand
devices
TheprogramiscontainedontheThinkServerEasyStartupDVDprovidedwithyourserver.If
youdidnotreceivetheDVDwithyourserver,youcandownloadanISOimageoftheDVDfrom
http://www.lenovo.com/support.Theprogramhasabuilt-inhelpsystemand
UserGuidetoanswer
questionsyoumighthave.Theprogramalsoprovidescompatibilitynotestohelpyoudeterminewhatserver
congurationsandoperatingsystemsaresupportedbythatspecicversionoftheprogram.
The
ThinkServerEasyStartupprogramalsoenablesyoutosavetheresponseleonaUSBdeviceforreuse,
andanoptionthatenablesyoutoinstallanoperatingsystemusingthesavedresponsele.Thisoptionis
usefulifyouintendtoinstallthesameoperatingsystemonsimilarlyconguredThinkServerservers.
Notes:
1.IfyouintendtoimplementaRAID,makesureyourstoragecontrollerorRAIDadapteriscongured
correctlybeforeyouusetheThinkServerEasyStartupprogramtoinstalltheoperatingsystem.
2.Ifyouareusinganyexternalstoragedevicesorberchannels,usetheutilitiesprovidedwiththedevice.
YoualsowillhavetoprovidethedevicedriversforthesedevicesandinstallthemaftertheEasyStartup
programnishesinstallingtheoperatingsystem.
3.TheThinkServerEasyStartupDVDrequiresthatyouhaveaDVDdrivethatisconguredasyourrst
deviceinthestartupsequence.UsetheSetupUtilityprogramtovieworchangeyourstartupsequence.
