1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Iftheserverisinstalledinarackcabinet,removetheserverfromtherackcabinetandplaceitonaat,
clean,andstatic-protectivesurface.SeetheRackInstallationInstructionsthatcomeswiththeserver.
3.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage73.
4.Removetherisercardassembly2andlayitupsidedownonaat,clean,andstatic-protectivesurface.

Note:UsuallyEthernetcard(s)areinstalledontherisercardassembly2.AnEthernetcardalsocan
beinstalledinanyPCIExpresscardslotthatsupportsit.See“Rearviewoftheserver”onpage26to

5.LocateanappropriatePCIExpresscardslotforinstallingtheEthernetcardandthenremovethePCI
Expresscardslotbracketfromtherisercardassembly.Storethebracketintheeventthatyoulater
removetheEthernetcardandneedthebrackettocovertheplace.

6.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainstheEthernetcardtoanyunpaintedsurfaceonthe
outsideoftheserver.Then,taketheEthernetcardoutofthepackage.
Note:CarefullyhandletheEthernetcardbyitsedges.
7.IfyouwanttoinstallanEthernetcardintotheslotforalow-prolecard,youmightneedtoreplace
thefull-heightbracketfortheEthernetcardwiththelow-prolebracketcontainedintheEthernet
cardpackagebydoingthefollowing:
