Thesecuredigital(SD)moduleprovidesaneasywayfordatastorage.YoucaninstalltwoSDcardsintothe
SDmodule.YoucanpurchaseanSDmoduleandSDcardsfromLenovo.

computerforreference.
Notes:
•UseanydocumentationthatcomeswiththeSDmoduleandfollowthoseinstructionsinadditionto
theinstructionsinthistopic.
•Dependingonthemodel,yourservermightlookslightlydifferentfromtheillustrationinthistopic.
ToinstalltheSDmodule,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Prepareyourserver.See“Removingorextendingtheserverfromtherackcabinet”onpage69.
3.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage69.
4.Removetherisercardassembly2.See“Replacingtherisercard”onpage85.
5.LocatetheSDmoduleconnectoronthesystemboard.See“Systemboardcomponents”onpage
43.RemoveanypartsanddisconnectanycablesthatmightimpedeyouraccesstotheSDmodule
connector.
6.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainstheSDmoduletoanyunpaintedsurfaceonthe
outsideoftheserver.Then,taketheSDmoduleoutofthepackage.
Note:CarefullyhandletheSDmodulebyitsedges.
7.InserttheSDcardintotheSDcardslot.ThecardmightstopbeforeitiscompletelyinstalledintotheSD
module.Ensurethatyouinsertthecardfirmlyuntilyouhearaclick.
