Beforeyoubegin,printalltherelatedinstructionsorensurethatyoucanviewthePDFversiononanother
computerforreference.
Note:Dependingonthemodel,yourservermightlookslightlydifferentfromtheillustrationsinthistopic.
Toreplacethefrontbackplaneforuptosix2.5-inchdrives,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Prepareyourserver.See“Removingorextendingtheserverfromtherackcabinet”onpage69.
3.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage69.
4.Removealltheinstalled2.5-inchdrivesanddummytrays(ifany)fromthefrontdrivecage.See
“Installingorreplacingahot-swapdrive”onpage134.
5.Removethetwoscrewsthatsecurethefrontdrivecage.Then,insertafingerintotheholeinthechassis
andpressthecagetothefrontoftheserveruntilitisremoved.
