Toinstallorreplaceaheatsink,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Prepareyourserver.See“Removingorextendingtheserverfromtherackcabinet”onpage69.
3.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage69.
4.Removethecoolingshroud.See“Removingandreinstallingthecoolingshroud”onpage72.
5.Locatetheheatsinkortheplaceforinstallingthesecondheatsink.See“Servercomponents”on
page28
.
6.Ifyouarereplacingaheatsink,dothefollowing:
a.Removethefourscrewsthatsecuretheheatsinktothesystemboard.Itisrecommendedthatyou
carefullyremovethefourscrewsfromthesystemboardusingthefollowingmethodtoavoidany
possibledamagetothesystemboard.
1)Partiallyremovescrew1,thencompletelyremovescrew3,andthenreturntoscrew1and
completelyremoveit.
2)Partiallyremovescrew2,thencompletelyremovescrew4,andthenreturntoscrew2and
completelyremoveit.
Note:Thefourscrewsareintegratedpartsoftheheatsink.Donottrytoremovethefourscrews
fromtheheatsink.
