Beforeyoubegin,printalltherelatedinstructionsorensurethatyoucanviewthePDFversiononanother

Notes:
•Dependingonthemodel,yourservermightlookslightlydifferentfromtheillustrationsinthistopic.
•Useanydocumentationthatcomeswiththeopticaldriveandfollowthoseinstructionsinadditionto
theinstructionsinthistopic.
Toreplacetheopticaldrive,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Prepareyourserver.See“Removingorextendingtheserverfromtherackcabinet”onpage69.
3.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage69.
4.locatethefailingopticaldriveanddisconnectthecablefromtherearoftheopticaldrive.Remove
anypartsanddisconnectanycablesthatmightimpedeyouraccesstotheopticaldrive.See“Front
viewoftheserver”onpage17
.
5.Presstheretainingclipinthedirectionasshownandslidetheopticaldrivetothefrontoftheserverat
thesametime.Then,removetheopticaldriveoutofthedrivecage.
