1.Reconnecttheservertoanacpowersource.
2.AfterthesystemhealthLEDturnsoff,pressthepowerbuttontoturnontheserver.Theserveris
turnedonandthenturnedoffautomatically.Then,therecoveryprocessstarts.Therecoveryprocess
lastsaboutfourminutes.Aftertherecoveryprocessiscompleted,theserverstartsautomatically.
3.CheckandconfiguretheBIOSsettingsforyourspecificneeds.See“UsingtheSetupUtility
program”onpage55.
•UsingtheBIOSrecoveryjumper
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnect
allpowercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Prepareyourserver.See“Removingorextendingtheserverfromtherackcabinet”onpage69.
3.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage69.
4.LocatetheBIOSrecoveryjumperonthesystemboard.See“Systemboardjumpers”onpage47.
Then,removeanypartsanddisconnectanycablesthatmightimpedeyouraccesstothejumper.
5.Removethejumpercapfromthejumpercapstorage.See“Systemboardjumpers”onpage47.
6.NotetheorientationofthejumpercapandtheninstallthejumpercapontheBIOSrecoveryjumper.
7.Connecttheservertoanacpowersource.Theserverturnsonandthenturnsoffautomatically.
8.Movethejumpercapbacktothejumpercapstorage.See“Systemboardjumpers”onpage47.
9.Waitforseveralminutes.WhentheBIOSrecoveryprocessiscompleted,theserverturnson
automatically.
10.EnsurethattheSetupUtilityprogramstartsnormally.See“StartingtheSetupUtilityprogram”on
page55.Then,disconnecttheserverfromtheacpowersource.
11.Reinstallanypartsandreconnectanycables.Then,reinstalltheservercover.See“Completing
thepartsreplacement”onpage183
.
12.Connecttheservertoanacpowersourceandturnontheserver.TheBIOSsettingsrecoverto
thefactory-defaultsettings.CheckandconfiguretheBIOSsettingsforyourspecificneeds.See

RAID,anacronymforRedundantArrayofIndependentDisks,isatechnologythatprovidesincreased
storagefunctionsandreliabilitythroughredundancy.Thisisachievedbycombiningmultipleharddiskdrives
intoalogicalunit,wheredataisdistributedacrossthedrivesinoneofseveralwayscalledRAIDlevels.
